Inaugural meeting for European Partnership on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) planned for 19 and 20 January

Mary Immaculate College is the co-ordinating institution for a European Partnership on the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for staff development in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. The project will compare VET staff development systems in partner countries, share knowledge on the use of RPL and prepare documentation on a range of issues, including the potential of ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training) for supporting RPL.

An inaugural meeting is planned for 19 and 20 January with project members due to attend from the following institutions: Mary Immaculate College (co-ordinating institution), City of Limerick Vocational Education Committee, University of Stirling, Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences, Fédération Nationale des Fleuristes de France, and Gazi University, Turkey. A video-conferencing link is also planned with Lithuanian University of Agriculture.

The programme for the two-day meeting will include presentations from project partners, planning meetings and visits to centres of further and adult education in the city under the management of the City of Limerick VEC. The partnership is funded by Léargas as part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme. It links with the college's work in VET teacher education through its Graduate Diploma in Adult and Further Education.
