It is a time for the staff and students of MaryImmaculateCollege, both past and present, to feel very proud. After 16 months of construction, Tailteann, the new multipurpose physical education facility is now open. This attractive physical education facility is the college’s first step towards modernisation in 25 years. It has been a quarter of a century since the college has had a new building.
Tailteann contains three halls, two of which will be used for preparing teachers of physical education and the third will be dedicated to exams and recreational sport. It can seat up to 1,200 which includes 520 electronically controlled seats and will be used for future graduation ceremonies.
The work involves the creation of two permanent entrances off Courtbrack Avenue. The development has been designed to minimise the removal of trees while also ensuring that all retained trees will be protected until all work is completed.
P. Elliott & Co. Ltd. is the construction company that built the new multipurpose facility. A date for the official opening of Tailteann will be announced shortly.
