MIC remains a popular choice among CAO applicants

Male and female student

With the publication of this year’s CAO points today (30 August), Mary Immaculate College (MIC) is delighted to announce that the College has once again performed exceptionally well and has seen increases in overall applications, First Preferences and Total Mentions, with the latter now standing at the highest on record. Individual applications to MIC continue to rise, with a 1% increase on last year’s application figures. First Preferences increased by 3%, and this year saw a 2% increase in Total Mentions.

Notwithstanding the national downward trends in applications for programmes in initial teacher education, all our teacher education programmes - across both our Limerick and Thurles campuses - performed well. Two of our programmes, the B Ed in Education and Psychology and the B Ed International, are extremely popular, as evidenced by the fact that they require the highest points level of any teacher education programmes in the country. Applications to MIC Thurles remain on an impressive upward trajectory with its new BA in Education, Home Economics and Business Studies (MI015) garnering exceptional interest. MIC’s Bachelor of Arts (MI002) programme also performed well with a 12% increase in First Preferences as compared to 2022.
