Tipperary Institute V M.I.C.L.
Mary I continued their great form with another very convincing win over Tipp Institute. From the very go, MICL showed their intent with early goals from talented corner forwards Noelle Corkery and Laura Brennan. Playing with a strong wind against them, Tipp Institute found it extremely difficult to clear their lines, especially with Catherine Kelly marshalling the midfield. It was all one way traffic in the first half with cleverly taken goals from Corkery again, taking her first half tally to 4-1, and Clodagh O Connor adding in with some sweetly taken points. The half left Tipp demoralized and wondering how they could stop the MIC attack. Further scores from Leanne Lynch and Breda Feeney brought the away teams score line to 6-15 at the break. With the game won, and playing into a strong breeze, the scores were less frequent but still the game was in Mary I’s Control. Margaret Howard starred with 5 well taken points and the defense was enormously solid only conceding two points throughout the game. Tipp Institute were grateful to hear the final whistle after, what was for them, a very tough and long day. The game ended 8-22 to 0-2, with MICL being very clinical and playing excellent football throughout.
