An emphatic first half display from MIC earned them a great victory over city counterparts LIT. A game which saw early goals from Noelle Corkery, via the penalty spot, and Eimear Harrington opened up a strong lead from the home side and from there, they never looked back. The LIT goalkeeper had an extremely busy first half with the game having endless MIC attacks. Further goals from Catherine Kelly and wing back Helena O Connor, both very confident finishes, added to MIC’s dominance. Several nice points from the boots of Clodagh O Connor and corner forward Nicola Burke kept LIT far from touching distance. Excellent performances from Deirdre Lawless and Emer Leonard meant LIT could just manage the solitary point in the first half. The second half saw the introduction of new faces to the home team and all can be extremely happy with their performance. With the game certainly won, LIT took some control in the match as MIC took their foot off the gas. Their talented midfielder started to come into the game and set up several scores for her team mates. MIC ended the game victorious and in a more comfortable manner than the score line suggests. It was just too little, too late for the ladies of LIT and MIC will be extremely confident going in to their next game after that performance.
